Slobberknocker: Deadly Game

With the Survivor Series in town this Sunday and the Rock making his return after being inactive for seven years, this is only appropriate. After Vince McMahon screwed Bret Hart at the 1997 Survivor Series, he (or rather Mr. McMahon) and his cronies took meddling to new levels. Just one year later at the ’98 Series, the WWF Title sat vacant after the Undertaker and Kane pinned Stone Cold Steve Austin simultaneously at Summerslam.

To rectify this, McMahon set up a 14-man tournament for the event with the winner to be crowned Champion. Along with his long-running hatred of Austin, McMahon had a new nemesis in the Rock, who called himself the People’s Champion. Well, McMahon hated the people but appeared to be growing fond of Mankind, who would do anything for “his dad.” When he and the Rock met in the Finals, it seemed like Mankind would have his day but he learned like the Hitman did, never to trust Vincent Kennedy McMahon, and the Rock had won his first WWF Championship.

John Cena has been taking shots at his WrestleMania XXVIII opponent The Rock over the past couple of weeks. Well, the Rock noticed and released a video in which he tore Cena to shreds for everything from being a hypocrite to having lame fans. It’s classic Rock. Nobody can incorporate “bloated transvestite Wonder Woman” into a rant better than he can. It also looks like he’s coming back to Madison Square Garden, where he had his first match, for Survivor Series. This feud is really getting personal. As Jim Ross would say, “Business is about to start picking up.”

The People’s Splash Mountain

The Rock does everything better than a normal human being. He sings better. He fucks better. He even poses for pictures on theme park rides better. I always go for the thumbs up when I see the camera but you don’t become the People’s Champion by giving a thumbs up. The guy in the back wants no part of it. The Rock should slap him in the face.

The Rock came back to the WWF yesterday for the first time in 7 years and the most electrifying man in all of entertainment did not disappoint. He called out John Cena, laid the smacketh down on Michael Cole, and most importantly raised the People’s Eyebrow. He even got bleeped out several times. It was a welcome reminder of the good old days of Steve Austin and Mick Foley. Hopefully, today’s wrestlers will be forced to up their game. The Rock will be hosting WrestleMania XXVII and if yesterday’s performance is any indication it is going to be a must-see event.
