Classic Video of the Week: Ernest Goes To Jury Duty

Posted: May 26, 2011 by Keith Stone in Ernest, videos

CurlySue is on extended jury duty, most likely as a karmic result for embarrassing me in Times Square. In her honor, we celebrate with a clip from Ernest Goes To Jail, a movie that was robbed of a Oscar. The late, great Jim Varney never gets enough credit.

The Mets lost to the Florida Marlins 2-1 the other night when relief pitcher Burke Badenhop drove in the winning run in the 11th inning for his second career hit. Only the Mets find new and more embarrassing ways to lose. In their honor, we celebrate one of the best commercials of all-time.

Variety is the spice of life, so now we’re just going to have a Classic Video of the Week. The hot chicks just aren’t into Simpsons quotes. The Mr. Plow theme song has never gotten me laid. This week’s video is one of the great live moments in TV history, right up there with Janet Jackson’s boob. At the benefit for Hurricane Katrina victims, Kanye West tells us what he really thinks about George W. Bush. Mike Myers is either appalled or doesn’t understand since he’s Canadian.

Simpsons Video of the Week: Homer Goes To Hell

Posted: May 5, 2011 by Keith Stone in Simpsons, U!S!A!, videos

In honor of Osama bin Laden, this week’s Simpsons video has Homer going to hell after selling his soul to the devil (Ned Flanders, obviously) for a donut. His punishment is delicious.

With Homer desperate for tickets to the big football game, he turns to God for help. Unfortunately, he ends up violating the Eleventh Commandment: “Thou shall not eat God.”

With the death of the Wrestling Video of the Week comes the birth of the Simpsons Video of the Week. Keith knows what you kids want and it’s Simpsons videos. Seriously, The Simpsons is one of the greatest TV shows of all-time, in the early years of course. You can watch any of the old episodes and they’re hilarious. Clever, too. Now, it’s a little too in-your-face. We’ll always have Homer in space, though. In this week’s clip, Marge gets tickets to the ballet. Homer agrees to go, thinking it’s the circus. It’s not. Can he make it through one whole day without disappointing Marge?

All good things must come to an end. With Wrestlemania coming up this week, it seems like an appropriate time to end our wildly popular Wrestling Video of the Week segment. Our final video may be one of the wildest. Minutes away from her marriage with Test, Stephanie McMahon finds out that she secretly wed Triple H at a drive-in in Vegas Timofey Mozgov-style while she was unconscious. As if that wasn’t enough, Hunter asks Vince how many times he thinks he raped Stephanie while she was passed out. Definitely not one of the most tasteful storylines in history. With that said, I loved it.

With Mr. McMahon laid up in the hospital with a busted foot, he had a few visitors come to say hello. First up, Mick Foley did his best to spread the cheer with his new friend Mr. Socko. Then, it was time to talk to the doctor.

Snooki guest-hosted Raw last night and did a decent job. She also worked her way into a match at Wrestlemania XXVII. It’s still not greatest guest spot of all-time.

Looks like Stone Cold Steve Austin is going to join The Rock at Wrestlemania as a guest referee in a few weeks. Austin is arguably the most popular wrestler of all-time and I definitely appreciate him more now as a guy who’s had a few Steveweisers than when I was a kid. However, I still always loved this moment. As Vince and Shane McMahon gloated with The Rock about how bad Stone Cold was going to get it at Wrestlemania XV, the Rattlesnake had other plans.
